Gregory Brandon, Co-Founder
Greg Brandon is co-founder and principal for Triad Consulting. Greg has over 25 years of experience in consulting, design, project management and executive leadership. Starting his career working for leading telecommunication companies, then transitioning to the security industry including security and alarm system integrators and manufacturers such as Pinkerton, API, and Simplex-Grinnell, Greg’s career includes 15 years of consulting with 8 years leading the nation’s largest security management consulting and system design practice for a national engineering firm.
Greg has exceptional knowledge of the security consulting profession from strategic planning through operational consulting, physical and electronic systems design and implementation to managed services. Greg’s experience runs from government, healthcare, education, transportation, utility, air/seaport and energy critical infrastructure sectors to industrial, commercial and hospitality clients large and small.
Greg has a bachelor’s degree in communications (BAC) from California State University Fullerton. He is a member of ASIS International and the Los Angeles chapter of InfraGard. Through project oversight, Greg ensures that all projects receive the full benefit of Triad Consulting’s extensive project management and quality assurance programs. Greg looks forward to continuing to guide Triad Consulting forward as one of the preeminent security consulting firms in the nation.

Mike Ulwelling, Co-Founder
Mike Ulwelling, CPP, is co-founder and managing director of Triad Consulting. Mike has over 20 years of experience as a security consultant, business development executive, system designer, and project manager, working for alarm and security manufacturers, integrators and consultants. He also has an extensive background in developing electronic security system requirements, conducting vulnerability assessments and providing detailed project oversight.
Mike is also known for his expertise in fire alarm system analysis and design. While at a nationally known fire alarm manufacturer and system integrator, Mike excelled at technical sales, evaluation of existing systems for code compliance and obsolescence, stand-alone and networked system design and project management. On multiple occasions Mike attained the highest level of corporate recognition awarded for annual performance.
Mike has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University and a master’s degree in business management from Pepperdine University. He is board certified in security management as a certified protection professional (CPP) through ASIS International. He is a member of ASIS International and National Fire Protection Association.
Mike gained extensive experience with companies such as Johnson Controls, Simplex-Grinnell, Quickset International, Custom Federal, and TRC Solutions while serving sectors such as higher education, transportation, healthcare, civic, federal, air/seaport, water and wastewater, hospitality, entertainment and commercial high-rise. With a background in alarm and security as well as business development strategy, Mike enjoys his mission of sustaining Triad Consulting’s rapid growth through application of knowledge, experience, values and aptitude.

Drew Brandon, Project Coordinator
Drew Brandon is an accomplished project management and technical services professional with a BS in Communication from Eastern Washington University. He is a certified milestone technician integrator in AXIS Cameras and Google Project Management. Drew is highly proficient in physical and technical security design, AutoCAD, technical site assessment documentation, project coordination, access control, video systems, and Bluebeam.
With a focus on delivering customized security solutions, Drew has extensive experience working with diverse clients, including cities, counties, school districts, and universities. He excels in converting conceptual security designs into practical technical drawings and developing strategic solutions that meet each client’s specific needs. His commitment to staying abreast of industry advancements ensures that he consistently delivers innovative and effective security solutions.
Drew joined Triad System and Design Group LLC in 2021, where he has been instrumental in several key projects. Notably, he has provided technical services for the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Security Assessment for access control and video systems at San Bernardino Probation in Apple Valley, CA, an ongoing project since 2024.
He has also served as assistant pm and technical services for the City of Rialto, CA, where he conducted security assessments and designed electronic security and wireless networks for 28 sites, including public works, wells, treatment plants, and reservoirs from 2023 to 2024.
Other significant projects include security assessments for the City Hall and Police Department of Cypress, CA (2023 – ongoing), and for the Tarrant County College District in Fort Worth, TX, where he provided AutoCAD design for 110 buildings across six campuses (2023 – ongoing).
Drew also assessed the operational and security systems for 28 schools in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, CA (2022 – 2023), and conducted site assessments for access control and video systems for 13 city sites in Manhattan Beach, CA (2021).
Drew’s expertise in security design and project management, combined with his technical proficiency and dedication to innovation, make him a vital asset to Triad System and Design Group LLC. His work consistently reflects his ability to provide high-quality security solutions tailored to the unique needs of his clients.

David Skusek – Manager
David A. Skusek, PSP, is a distinguished senior systems engineer with over four decades of expertise in the automation and security industry. His educational background includes an AA in Electronics Engineering-Communications and an AA in Electronics, Radio, and Television Program from Milwaukee Area Technical College, along with two years of Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin. David is also a certified Physical Protection Professional (PSP) by ASIS International.
David’s extensive areas of expertise encompass conducting vulnerability assessments, system design, and engineering for electronic access control, perimeter and intrusion detection, intercom systems, technology infrastructure, video surveillance systems, and low voltage systems such as communications, audio/visual, and fire alarms.
He is adept at evaluating new and existing technologies, performing needs and gap analyses for security and infrastructure, and providing bid assistance, construction administration, and integrated system commissioning.
David has served various clients throughout his prolific career, including municipal governments, transportation agencies, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, aviation, water/wastewater utilities, and the hospitality sector. His work is characterized by a strong focus on technology and developing innovative strategies to meet client needs. Notable projects include:
- Developing citywide security solutions for the City of Rialto.
- Conducting security system assessments for the City of Cypress.
- Leading an access control system upgrade for the Orange County Fire Authority.
In the transportation sector, David has designed commercial vehicle management systems for San Diego International Airport and provided long-range security planning for the Albuquerque Department of Transportation. His contributions to education include security assessments and master plan development for Tarrant Community College District and multiple security planning and design projects for the University of California, Irvine.
David has also applied his expertise to commercial properties, designing security systems for Mission Rock Commercial/Residential Properties, conducting site assessments for the Maricopa Association of Governments, and overseeing the transition of security systems for Papago Buttes Commercial Properties. His extensive knowledge and hands-on experience across various sectors make him a valuable asset in systems engineering and security design.

Danny Lopez – Senior System Designer
Danny Lopez is a senior systems designer at Triad Consulting. He has over 20 years of experience providing system design and computer-aided drafting support within the AEC industry. Danny specializes in a range of electronic security systems, including alarms, access control, video surveillance, intercom, emergency phone, audio/visual, fire alarm, and network systems.
Danny holds an Associate’s Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) from ITT Technical Institute. His professional certifications include Infrastructure Protection Certification from TEEX and Security Center Design Certification from Genetec. His technical proficiency extends across several software packages, including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and ArcGIS.

Notable projects include the City of Orange’s citywide video surveillance design, the Town of Yucca Valley’s Paradise Park video surveillance system, and extensive security technology infrastructure designs for various city facilities in Los Angeles and Orange counties. Danny’s contributions also include significant projects in healthcare, such as multiple security system designs for Riverside University Health System and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Roxbury, MA.
Danny’s work in education includes designing electronic security systems for several facilities at the University of California Irvine, and contributing to the security master plan for Lake Elsinore Unified School District. Additionally, he has been involved in long-range security planning for the Albuquerque Department of Transportation and various electronic security designs for water/wastewater facilities across California.

Jeff Hutchinson – Senior Public Safety Consultant
Jeffrey Hutchison is a distinguished senior public safety consultant at Triad Consulting, bringing over 34 years of extensive experience in law enforcement and public safety to the team. With a career that spans critical leadership roles and significant contributions to public safety at major universities, Jeff is renowned for his expertise in police operations, threat management, and campus security.
Jeff’s career began as a SWAT officer with the San Diego Police Department, where he honed his skills in tactical operations and high-risk law enforcement activities. He then dedicated 30 years to the University of California system, serving UC San Diego and UC Irvine. He held pivotal roles at UC Irvine, including Assistant Chief of Police and Interim Chief of Police.
In these capacities, Jeff oversaw comprehensive public safety operations, developed proactive community policing initiatives, and managed critical response programs for campus safety.
Throughout his tenure, Jeff implemented numerous innovative programs such as the Behavioral Intervention Team, Campus Assault Resources & Education (CARES), Bicycle Enforcement and Education Program (BEEP), and various workplace violence and active shooter response initiatives. His efforts significantly enhanced the safety and security of the university communities he served.
Jeff holds a BA in Administration of Justice from National University and an AA in Criminal Justice – Pre-Law from Miramar College, both earned with Summa Cum Laude honors. He has completed the WACUBO Executive Leadership and Management Institute at the University of Southern California and holds multiple Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) program certifications. Additionally, Jeff is an alumnus of the prestigious FBI National Academy.
Jeffrey Hutchison’s exemplary law enforcement career and significant public safety contributions make him an invaluable asset to Triad Consulting. Spencer Brandon – Public Safety Consultant
Spencer W. Brandon is a dedicated Public Safety Consultant with a robust background in firefighting and emergency medical services. He holds an AS in Fire Academy and an AS in Fire Technology/Fire Officer from Moreno Valley College. Spencer’s professional certifications are extensive, including Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter 1, and various ICS and specialized rescue certifications, such as Confined Space Rescue Awareness and Fire Control 1-4.
Spencer brings over five years of first responder experience to his role. His career includes more than three years as a firefighter/EMT with the Placentia Fire Department in Orange County, CA, where he responded to emergencies, conducted fire safety inspections, and participated in rescue operations. Additionally, Spencer has two years of experience as an EMT with Care/Falck Ambulance, providing critical emergency medical care and patient transportation.
Since joining Triad Consulting in 2020, Spencer has leveraged his hands-on experience to contribute to several key projects. He served as a consultant for the City of Palmdale, CA, conducting an Integrated Security System Needs Analysis in 2022.
As an Assistant Program Manager for RHP Properties, he oversaw the design and implementation of video surveillance systems nationwide between 2021 and 2022. Furthermore, during the same period, he was involved in the Integrated Security System and Design project for the Orange County Fire Authority in Irvine, CA.

Johnny Khuu – Technical System Specialist
Johnny Khuu is a seasoned technician with over 15 years of experience providing technical assistance to business professionals. He holds a Technical Systems Analysis qualification from Pasadena City College.
Johnny has demonstrated his expertise in integrating computer skills with networking technologies, including LAN/WAN, DHCP, IIS, DNS, and Wi-Fi throughout his career. He is proficient in handling various systems, such as Point of Sales (POS), Self-Checkout systems (SCO), routers, switches, servers (mail, database, CCTV surveillance), and access control systems.
Johnny’s proficiency extends to various software, including Office Word and Excel, AutoCAD Design Suite, Revit, and Bluebeam. He excels in field surveys, needs analysis, and security system audits. His certifications complement his technical skills as a Milestone Integration Technician and Genetec Consultant, specializing in security desk basics for Omnicast and Synergis.
Johnny has a robust background in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting security equipment from top brands like Avigilon, Milestone, March Networks, Genetec, Wisenet, OpenEye, Axis, and ExacqVision, among others. His extensive project experience includes working with major clients such as JP Morgan Chase, Wescom Credit Union, Wells Fargo, Navy Federal Credit Union, Gucci, Cartier, Chevron, FedEx, Quest Diagnostics, and Nordstrom Fulfillment Distribution Center.
Johnny is known for his ability to integrate software and hardware systems seamlessly, perform field services efficiently, and troubleshoot problems while minimizing customer stress, making him a valuable asset in the technical and security systems industry.

Rodney Thayer – Specialist
Rodney Thayer, a seasoned Cyber Security Consultant based in Northern California, brings over 40 years of software development expertise to Triad Consulting, where he has been an integral part of the team for the past eight years. Rodney’s vast experience spans embedded systems, network protocols, and cryptography, with a particular focus on cyber defense and network security.
Rodney excels in designing, deploying, and validating network defense infrastructures, integrating physical security with network systems, and implementing advanced credentialing solutions in converged logical and physical security environments. His work often involves applying compliance controls to operational technology (OT) infrastructures.
Noteworthy projects under Rodney’s belt include security validation for large enterprise credential technologies, physical security hardening for a West Coast port, and the deployment of cutting-edge security systems at an international airport and a power substation in Chicago’s electric grid. He has also worked on cyber defense infrastructure updates at a major research facility and developed FIPS 201 smartcard credential solutions for federal government vendors.
Rodney is actively researching credential processing vulnerabilities, OT system hardening, and developing diagnostic techniques for network vulnerability repair. He also contributes to creating credential standards and open-source reference implementations.
With a deep background in network protocol specification, standardization, implementation, and troubleshooting, Rodney is adept at network security evaluations and using security scanning tools. His services include planning, prototyping, technical evaluations, adversary simulation, systems integration, and cybersecurity training for network and physical security practitioners.

Steve Ellis
Steve Ellis brings over 40 years of experience in education, law enforcement and security consulting, specializing in campus safety, emergency preparedness, and community collaboration. His career began in public safety with the California Department of Corrections and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, where he developed expertise in narcotics investigations, gang intelligence, and patrol operations. Steve later joined the City of Corona Police Department, serving in various roles, including Gang Investigator and School Resource Officer, where he focused on youth safety and crime prevention.
Steve holds a degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Riverside Community College and completed advanced studies at the University of La Verne and California State University, San Bernardino. An accomplished leader, Steve transitioned to education management as the Administrative Director of Student Safety and Security for the Corona-Norco Unified School District. In this role, he supervised comprehensive safety programs, trained staff on crisis management, and collaborated with law enforcement to protect over 54,000 students and staff. His commitment to school safety and innovative program development has earned him national recognition, including the title of National Safety Director of the Year (2021).
